Become an expert in diagnostic thyroid ultrasonography, fine-needle aspiration and interpretation of bone density studies as you care for patients with Type 1 and 2 diabetes, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid and reproductive diseases, and parathyroid and metabolic bone diseases.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
Nationally ranked in Diabetes and Endocrinology by U.S. News & World Report, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is home to the area's only Level I trauma center, burn trauma unit and renal transplant unit, the region's premier heart program and the primary teaching hospital for EVMS. Its active cardiology, cardiac rehabilitation, sleep medicine, epilepsy and oncology programs, as well as its heart, lung, kidney and pancreas transplant programs, make Sentara Norfolk General ideal for fellowship training.

EVMS Williams Hall
EVMS Williams Hall houses the EVMS Strelitz Diabetes Center, where fellows complete their outpatient rotation and continuity clinics. The Strelitz Diabetes Center is internationally known for its clinical providers, scientists and educators, who are working to find a cure for diabetes and prevent complications from neuropathy and cardiovascular disease. Fellows work with patients at the Strelitz Diabetes Center for the duration of the two-year program.

Hampton Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC)
The Hampton VAMC has 142 acute beds in medicine, surgery, psychiatry and neurology, 234 extended care beds in intermediate medicine, palliative (hospice) care, spinal cord injury and nursing home care and a 294-bed rehabilitative residential care domiciliary for a total of 670 operating beds. Established in 1870, Hampton is the fourth oldest VA hospital in the country and houses one of the largest outpatient hemodialysis units in the VA system. Fellows complete outpatient rotations at this facility.

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters is the only freestanding children's hospital in Virginia. With 206 beds, it is the regional pediatric referral center for coastal Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. The hospital, a pediatric Level I trauma center, is home to the area's largest and most advanced neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, as well as the state's only acute inpatient rehabilitation unit. Faculty are involved in research locally, nationally and internationally.

Work-life balance is important during your fellowship, and we are committed to supporting our fellows throughout their time at EVMS. Through EVMS' Wellness Works program, our residents and fellows receive the same wellness resources as our faculty and staff.
